Schoch Dairy & Creamery wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, or reduced-motion settings.

What we aim for

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. That is the standard most courts and regulators look to for websites.

What has been done

  • Every photo on the site has a text description (alt text). Checked 10 September 2026.
  • Every page has one clear main heading and a page language of English, so screen readers pronounce it correctly.
  • The whole site works with a keyboard alone. The item you are on is always visibly outlined, and a "Skip to content" link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches on every page.
  • Text and background colours meet the WCAG contrast minimum, including the green fact panels, which were adjusted on 10 September 2026.
  • Footer links are large enough to tap easily on a phone.
  • On phones, a fixed bottom bar and a menu button both reach every page.
  • The stockist map pins on the Visit page are named for screen readers.
  • Automated accessibility checks (axe-core) are run on every page whenever the site changes.

What we are still working on

  • On the Home, Our Milk, Our Family and Visit pages the main content is not yet wrapped in a single "main" region for screen readers. Every heading is still announced and the skip link still works.
  • A few product and fact cards use a third-level heading directly under the page title. Screen readers still read them in order.
